Denard RobinsonMichigan’s Denard Robinson became only the fourth QB in FBS history to rush for at least 4,000 career yards in a victory over the Fightining Illini.

It started as it seems it always does for the Wolverines, Denard Robinson was hurt and left the game with an undisclosed injury in the first quarter.

Instead of sitting out, Robinson returned after only missing one possession and scored on a 6-yard run. The score was his second of four as Michigan started to pull away 17-0 late in the first half.

“It was just a boo-boo,” said Robinson, declining to say what sent him out of the game briefly. “It’s all good. It didn’t bother me at all.” According to

Obviously it bothered him a little.

Robinson, who is known for his “boo-boo’s”, accounted for 287 yards which game him 10,000-plus career yards on offense.

He also put up some unlikely passing numbers as he connected on 7 of 11 passes including a perfectly thrown ball to Devin Funchess in the end zone.

The 128 rushing yards accounted for his 18th career 100-yard game on the ground, including a highlight for the ages with a 49-yard run that gave Michigan a 24-0 lead.

“He made people miss tackles,” Fighting Illini coach Tim Beckman said. “He’s a very, very good football player. He had a sensational game.”

There is no denying the offensive talent of Robinson, but his accuracy problems will never allow him to translate into an NFL quarterback.

While Robinson continues to set records for Michigan, don’t expect to see much of him in the NFL.
