University of Houston’s newest member of the NFL, quarterback Case Keenum, may be remembered as the man who put the Cougars on the map, but it’s up to the new class to continue that excellence.

The Cougars finished the regular season 12-0 as they set a new school record for wins. It was the first undefeated and untied regular season in their 66-year history. The Cougars would lose to Southern Mississippi in the 2011 Conference USA Championship game and if they had won, they would have earned their first ever BCS berth.

Instead of wondering what could have been the Cougars are ready to build upon their success and add solid recruits to make them even more relevant.

Houston’s top recruit is defensive lineman Donald Hopkins. Hopkins, a former Missouri commitment,  is a 2012 Under-Armour All-American and played in its annual all-star game on Jan. 5. The 6-2, 275-pounder is ranked as the 17th-best defensive tackle in the country by ESPN.com. The standout lineman is known for his pass rushing skills, ability to disrupt a play and relentless pursuit to the ball.

Houston bolstered their line even more by adding defensive lineman Tomme Mark out of Lufkin, TX. Along with teammates Marrick Charles and Bryan Singleton from Destrehan, LA.

According to LAfootballmagazine.com ” One of the most talented Defensive Lineman you will see on tape in the 2012 class in Louisiana is Bryan Singleton (sometimes called BJ Singleton) from Destrehan High School. I watched six games of Destrehan in 2010 and every time I watched this kid I could tell he had the feet, hands, and frame all the DI one schools drool over as a can’t miss prospect. I think his biggest strength on film from watching him is his ability to run sideline to sideline for a kid his size in high school”
