LeBron James has had a turbulent last two years and while he continues to play the villain role in the NBA odds are by committing to the 2012 London Olympic team he figures it will do nothing but help his tarnished reputation.
“I would love to be a part of that team,” James said. “If coach needs me to be a part of that team, I’m available. Hopefully I’m healthy enough to be a part of that team. Coach K has my number.”
Team USA already has clinched a spot in the Olympics thanks to winning the FIBA World Championship the past summer and LeBron James was part of the 2008 Gold Medal team.
Miami Heat teammates Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh were also on the U.S. squad in 2008 at the Beijing Olympics were not going to commit at this time. Wade told the Sun Sentinel “I’ve got a lot of other things to worry about that I deal with off the court.” And Bosh said, “I’m just focused on right now. There’s too much going on in my life right now to try to think about that.”
