It’s been a stormy time in New Orleans of late, and it has nothing to do with weather! Aside from the ongoing fallout from ”bountygate,” the Saints have been unable to come to terms with their super star QB, Drew Brees.
It had been reported that Brees was looking for an annual salary somewhere north of $21 Million dollars. However, according to the QB, that information was over inflated. He was, however, looking for a multi-year contract, something the Saints we not originally offering.
The NFL franchise tag applied to their quarterback would have guaranteed him at least $16 million dollars for the upcoming season. However, he was bargaining for more than that.
Finally, according to “foxsports.com,” they quote a source who says Brees will now agree to a multi-year deal from New Orleans for between $18-19 million dollars per season. The 33-year-old QB, who set a new single-season passing record in 2011 with 5746 passing yards called the lack of communication with his team “extremely frustrating.”
