Sean Tapley 300x192 Video: North Carolina ends longest active NCAA streakNot many knew what to think of the North Carolina Tarheels after a blow-out victory of Idaho and then a 27-6 win over East Carolina. Would they be able to hold up against rival Virginia Tech?

We did know we would see a steady dose of Gio Bernard who is now at 100 percent after a knee injury held him out of two games.

What we found out was, North Carolina held on to their best win of the season as ACC play starts with a 48-34 victory.

We also found that Sean Tapley, the 6’1 sophomore is starting to find his role in the offense and has a knack for big-play ability.

Tapley, was only 2 years-old when Virginia Tech last gave up a kickoff return for a touchdown, but Tapley is now responsible for ending the longest active NCAA streak according to USA Today.

The Tar Heels trailed early after giving up a touchdown but on the Hokies’ kickoff after the score, Tapley broke through and took it to the house with a 94-yard touchdown return.

It was Tapley’s first career kickoff return for a score and ended the 237 game streak of the Hookies.  The record dates back to a win over Syracuse on Nov. 13, 1993.
